January is hard for me.

For as long as I can remember, this is the worst month of the year.

Others I know have regarded December as a worse month, and I understand that reasoning….at the end of December, we celebrate the solstice, and the sun comes back.

But – it comes back slowly.

December, at least, is full of social events, and upcoming holidays, and fun.

January has none of that.

Not to mention that currently January generally holds the busiest, most stressful time at my job. And, as everyone knows, I am loving every freaking second of my job.

So – January.

1/3 over, right?

The next two weeks will be hell at work, but two weeks go by fast.

I’m yoga-ing (and even meditating) almost every day.

I haven’t spent much in extra pennies this month.

I am keeping ahead of job deadlines, and school deadlines, and making appropriate contacts for my secret goal (see new year’s goals…)

And all I’m hoping for is that the next 14-19 days pass quickly.

February is a much more positive month.


  1. For me, I think it’s February. In January I can still feel a bit optimistic. Winter is just getting started and I can tell myself “it’s not really all that bad.” I’m just coming off of vacation so feeling somewhat rested. But by February I’ve had enough of crappy weather and I really need a long weekend, darnit. At least February is a short month, I’ll give it that.

    Hang in there. Spring will come and we’ll be out planting gardens before we know it. 🙂

    I think everyone should take a week off in January and go somewhere sunny, I think it helped recharge me. I can’t say I’m thrilled that the sunrise is at almost 8am but like you said we’re past the shortest day of the year and are in an upwards slope to more and more daylight.
