The Last Day

I can’t say I’ll be sad to see 2008 go. It’s been a rollercoaster of a year.

There was some good:

  • New job
  • Paid off my car
  • Ran 1/2 marathon

There was some bad:

  • Architect laid off
  • Hurt my knee, did not run marathon

But overall, I think that I’ll just look forward to the exciting things that 2009 has in store for me. I have some goals for the next year.

  1. Run (at least one) marathon
  2. Run 1,000 miles
  3. Think seriously about actually doing a sprint tri-athlon
  4. Master that intuitive eating thing
  5. Drop some more (10) pounds before getting into the longer distances in my marathon training
  6. Gain no weight DURING the marathon training
  7. Continue my excellent workout schedule
  8. Continue to exercise at least 26 days/month
  9. Keep up with my knee strength & stretching
  10. Drink 64 oz+ of water each day

Since I do 5 small monthly goals, I will continue with those -these are all health & fitness goals. I have others, too, of course, but don’t necessarily feel like sharing them at this time. I probably will in the future, though. I can’t keep secrets from you guys!

Tomorrow, I’ll have my January 5 goals & an account of how I did with December. I will also do an overview of how my $200/month grocery budget worked in the first month. Oooooh…..exciting!

I am planning on running 4-5 miles tomorrow, and then 3-4 on Friday. Sunday the Ambitious One will be back & I think we’re meeting at 10 AM for our Sunday run.

I made it to the gym again this morning for 30 minutes on the stationary bike & 30 minutes of strength training.

Happy New Year’s!

  1. Your goals sound awesome! So, I stuck a Post-It on my MacBook that says “blog 2009 goals”, yet I haven’t quite wrapped my brain around them yet.

I’ll get to it. Hopefully before 2009 is over…

  2. Okay, I’m exhausted now! Maybe time to head for my second nap of the day. But seriously, GOOD ON YA! Those look like great goals and I can’t wait to hear more. Happy New Year!

  3. Alisa

Good job on getting to workout on the last day of the year!

We have lots of the same goals for 2009. We need to start looking at Tri’s. I bet Zach could help us find one since he is Mr. Tri Man.

I am soooooo excited to be marathon training with you…how many times can I say that in a comment!??!!

  4. Nice goals. Here’s hoping 2009 will be better for you than 2008 was. Don’t be afraid of a sprint tri. It’s a much shorter race than a marathon (distance and time to complete) and it is LOADS of fun. of course, tri’s are like lay’s potato chips. only chuck norris can handle just one. and the bike and swim parts and training have no impact on your knee while still working your aerobic capacity!
