Six Miles, Bitches!
Today, I finally broke through my 5 mile barrier that I’ve been experiencing since I’ve been running again post physical therapy. I met the Ambitious One & Mr. Pi at one of the trailheads on the Springwater Trail. Mr. Pi ran with us for the first mile and then pulled out ahead. A & I ran three miles out, then back to the parking lot. She continued on in the opposite direction for at least 2 more miles as she was going for at least 10 miles today.
I can’t tell you how fantastic I feel! It’s a little disheartening how long it takes to get speed back (1 hour 11 minutes, 41 seconds for my 6.14 mile run), but at least my stamina is coming back. We were talking about how frustrating it is to feel fine cardio-vascularly, but to have other issues slow us down – namely knee problems. It’s just that a year ago, I was running 6 miles in under an hour (like a minute under an hour, but whatever), and now I’m not. I just want to get back to, at the very least, a consistent 10:30-11 minute mile. I’m sure it will come – but I want it now, dammit!
Anyways – not a lot planned for the rest of the day. It’s raining now, but I didn’t get rained on during my run, so that was nice. The architect isn’t home, so I’m guessing he’s out mountain biking in the rain.
Today is cookie making day, and a few other small projects, and some rest & relaxation.
Tomorrow starts the four-week Holiday Booty-Buster Challenge. I have no illusions about winning, but I am going to compete, dammit! I am so happy to finally be able to work out again, and although I’m not at the level I was at a year ago, the only way to get there is to keep on working at it! Check out my accumulated points on the left sidebar.
I am definitely hitting my 10 mile week this week! Last week I ran 7.5 miles (boo) and exercised for 289 minutes – almost 5 hours.
Workout goals this week (I fixed my Excel spreadsheets, which I’m sure you were all deeply concerned about).
Sunday: Run, 6 miles (check)
Monday: Bikram Yoga (90 minutes)
Tuesday: Run, 3 miles, hills – I’ll be on the treadmill, where you never have to run downhill. YAY! Also, lower body strength
Wednesday: Elliptical or Shred or Rest
Thursday: XTrain (swimming, I think) & Upper body strength
Friday: Run, 4 miles
Saturday: Yoga, 90 minutes (that class that I didn’t make it to yesterday)
Plan – 13 miles, 412 minutes (nearly 7 hours, which is my evenutal goal – to hit 420 minutes of activity a week). I never count the time I spend walking to & from the bus stop, because that might be cheating. 🙂
Happy week, people!
