Fifteen Months with Alvie Bean

Dear Mr. Bean,

Today you are 15 months old! That is full of crazy. You have been sprouting lately. Pants that used to be long enough are now showing a scandalous amount of ankle. However, since you’re also getting leaner, they do tend to fall right off if you get going too fast.

And oh boy, do you get going too fast.

You have grown by leaps and bound this month. You run everywhere, and when you’re not running, you’re climbing, walking backwards (don’t know why you like that so much, but you do!), and spinning in circles.

Moving so fast, the background's a blur!

You are continuing to add teeth at an alarming rate. Two molars (the right side ones) came in during the last week, and the top left is making its presence known, too! Nothing slows you down for long, though.  A bit of crankiness, and then bam! Back to your normal cheerful self!

You are constantly dirty. I don’t even know where you find half the dirt that ends up on your person. I think you might have a secret stash somewhere. There are few things you like more than sitting in a dirty patch of land and playing with some rocks.

This ground isn't nearly dirty enough!

Last week, we did an epic road trip. We drove from home to Rapid City, SD to see grandma & your Auntie (as well as various & sundry other relatives and friends). You were such a trooper! We spent long days in the car, and except for one vomitous incident on day one, hour three of the return trip, you were super. I mean, yeah – you cried and whined a bit towards the end of each day, but I felt pretty cranky, too, so I understand.

You have a few more words now than last month, but you’re still babbling more than talking. I think you’ve been channeling all of your energy into growing and motor skills!

You love your fork, and often refuse to eat anything unless the fork is at least an option. Your skill level with the fork is questionable, but definitely improving. Next up: Spoons!

You love to play ball, and you’re getting really good at kicking! (Sometimes I suspect that you might be better than me.) I’m about ready to sign you up for baby soccer! I’m sure you’re the next superstar.

You are such a great little guy. You give the best hugs, and those hugs really make my day. You are so sunny and cheery (except when you’re not), and your laugh slays me every time. You have a way of winning over everyone who comes across your path. I’m so glad you’re mine, little Bean.
