(Spring Trends in) PORN!!!

Today we are looking at Spring Trends according to Nordstroms.

They list five.

1. Huaraches

2. Gladiators (blech)

3. Tribal Influence (blech)

4. Bold Straps

5. Studs and Stones (hmmmm….I reserve immediate judgment)

So far, I am not impressed with spring trends at Nordstroms. BUT, I will share examples of each of these shoes – feel free to weigh in with your opinions – and if you could give a rousing defense of Gladiator sandals, that would be interesting. 🙂

1. Huaraches

These are, I think the cutest ones (but you all know of my weakness for wedges….you can follow the link above to see more shoes, if you so desire).  Also, they are ‘muffin’ sandals. And who doesn’t like muffins?

2. Gladiator

I’ll be honest – I am not a fan of the gladiator style. I think it’s too much, it can turn even the most delicate of ankles into a cankle, and quite frankly, most of them are hideous. BUT, these are the nicest ones, in my opinion. Although that’s not saying much. And I’m not sure how I feel about the speckles – looks like someone’s kid left their crayons & the shoes too close to the heater.

Of course, there are these, if that’s what you’re into. Because who doesn’t need a pair of gladiator booties?

3. Tribal Influence

I’m not sure why I had an immediate ‘blech’ feeling. Some of these aren’t so bad.

Of course, some of them are – these hail from the tribe of bad taste.

4. Bold Straps

I like a strappy sandal, as long as it’s not too over-the-top gladiator style. (Although I don’t necessarily hate gladiators. Some of them are quite fetching in their cute leather skirts.) These shoes are kinda awesome, actually.

5. Studs & Stones

There are many interesting choices here. And by interesting, I mean amusing. Tell me – and I promise not to judge you harshly, would you wear these:

All is not lost in the world of studs & stones, though.  In fact – these are quite fetching:

So my porn peeps, what say you? Am I smoking crack or is spring smoking crack?

Also – if you were had tickets to Oprah, and were going to wear a pair of hot jeans such as these:

What would you do for shoes? I would recommend a pair of equally hot boots with as much heel as one can comfortably stand in for a decent period of time (as long as they aren’t high enough to give a high-water look)….any differing opinions? A fellow reader needs your help! (I hope the jeans are similar to what you were thinking….)

  1. I love your Shoe Porn posts. I am a fan of some the gladiator sandals, I like the ones that are not over the top strappy, and I prefer gladiator flats. I love wedges, and studs and studs and stones..heck, I just really love shoes in general, thanks for sharing!

  2. Mostly gross, but I have to stick up for some of the gladiator sandals. Have you seen the most recent Bebe ads? They pair the gladiator sandals with a pair of really cute barely crop pants, and viola…magic happens.

I love these pants in black with the black sandals. So cute for a summer date night. I just wish that I didn’t need $300 to pay for both!

  3. Ok – I loathe gladiator sandals. Ick. I do love that two of my favorite (affordable) shoe guys made it into this post: Steve and Franco. Even if I don’t like either shoe. In fact, I’ll be wearing Franco’s tonight – and no turtleneck! WHEW!!

  4. Yes to the pants! The rest of the outfit (mostly shoes…) has me stymied. Thanks for the help 🙂

  5. Oh, and while I’m loving the Franco sandal (they’d be hot with the jeans) Oprah is in Chicago…and it is March…so we must keep that in mind.

  6. im liking the stuart weitzman bandura pumps. everything else is too crazy for me. maybe im just boring…

  7. Love, love, looooove the Franco Sarto ‘Phuket’ Sandal!!! Reminds me of an exotic beachy location. I could totally see a shoe like that being the ‘statement’ of an outfit! Like, all neutrals and then this kick ass shoe!

I too, am not a fan of the gladiator, though I have heard they are comfortable.

  8. I only like the Bandura pump and Phuket sandal so I think I’m with you, some of these spring trends are a little much for me. Doesn’t “spring shoe” convey to you something light and airy, for the warmer temps, something more…springy? These are all so HEAVY. I hate the gladiator trend too. Blech.

  9. This is such a fun post!!!! Here’s my review…
    #1- Love these wedges!
    #2- NO
    #3 – NO
    #4 – HOT HOT HOT!
#5 – I would LOVE to rock those! I would definitely need THE PERFECT outfit, and I’m not sure what that would be, but I would try REALLY hard to figure it out! Not a fan of shoe #2 in group 5.
As for the “What to wear to Oprah” question, I agree, go with a really sharp boot, maybe even something with some color?

Of course, hot summer sandals will not be an option for me for a while….I’m still stuck in this freaking boot and the Dr said that I shouldn’t plan on wearing “high heels, strappy sandals, high wedges” this year….WTF?

  10. Oh my goodness, I would kill myself in most of those sandals! I’m more of a kitten heel kind of gal (due to clumsiness), although wedges do help me get the extra inch in there. I agree with Maritza, they all seem so heavy for spring, but what do I know? Fun post!

  11. I don’t really love any of them! BUT… though I love me some patent peep toes, metallic sandals, f-me boots, and the like, I’m not super adventurous when it comes to shoe trends. I skip booties, gladiators, etc. and just prefer to pretend that they never happened.

As for the Oprah dilemma…. depending on what the weather will be like (this is Chicago we’re talking ’bout) I would either second your boot idea (cold) or, go with the ThickChick favorite, patent peep toe heels in a color that pops. (nicer weather, obviously)

  12. It looks like I will be going barefoot this year.

  13. when i first read “huaraches”, i pictured those awful flats that were in style when i was in junior high or high school, but i actually really like the one you posted – i think they’d be a really good wear-with-anything shoe.

i’m not a fan of the gladiator shoe, either…unless Russell Crowe is wearing them, as in “Gladiator”. rawr! Also, i’m in LOVE with the bold strappies.

i think the heels would be fine for Oprah, but i think the more important issue here is how on earth are that woman’s legs (in the picture) so freaking long?? i mean, that’s just not natural! and yes, i’m jealous.

  14. LOVE the cece and phuket. I love sandals!!!!
