Much Better

I slept about 10 hours last night, and I feel MUCH better today. I lazed this morning, reading in bed, and then got up, had a big bowl of oatmeal, and worked my ass off!  Who knew gardening could be such a workout? There were squats, there were lunges, there was steering the electric tiller about.

I tilled the big & little beds, cleaned up the front flower garden & herb garden, planted some early spring plant stuff (asparagus, onions, radishes, spinach & early peas) and got super dirty.

My knee was bothering me again when I woke up this morning, and since I really want to make my 12 miler on Sunday, I decided that I would garden the calories off today instead – and that was quite a workout.

However, unfortunately the last few days of crazy schedules have taken their toll on the architect, and he is now sick!

I’m kind of sad that there are only two days of vacation left – there are still so many things on my to-do list that are undone!

BUT – in the next two days, I would like to accomplish:

  • Make laundry detergent
  • Make 2-week menu, grocery shop
  • Make a lot of freezer waffles
  • List extraneous shoes on eBay
  • List extraneous books on Amazon Marketplace
  • Finish rearranging the upstairs room (exciting photos to follow)

Actually – I think that’s all. Nothing that’s hard or even that time-consuming. I did get a lot more stuff done early on that I thought – just lazy days on Wednesday & Thursday made me forget.

And, I really only have to work four days before I get my three-day weekends back again!

I will post pics of the garden & link to my laundry detergent recipe (I didn’t quite get to that, but have enough to last me until next weekend).

Yard work is an incredible workout…no wonder males that do manual labor have nice bodies (well…caveat…some of them).

Hope the knee is feeling up to the 12 miler tomorrow.

make your own laundry detergent? That is freaking impressive and ambitious. Good luck getting it all done and good for you for taking a day off! (of cardio, I mean)

Are you making your own freezer waffles? I would love the reciepe! Do you just make waffles and freeze them? Glad you are feeling a bit better.

Actually, that is all I do – I just make my regular waffle recipes (I do something a little different every time, sometimes I add blueberries, or chocolate chips) and then I let them cool completely (so that they’re a bit on the dry side) and freeze them! And then, I just pop them in the toaster like you would with a store-brand.

I can post my starting point recipe, if you’d like.

Yay for gardening! Can you teach me some moves? Once I get a house and yard I will be so all about the gardening. I miss my community plot in Oakland.

Oh yeah – I can totally teach you some mad gardening skillz! 🙂 Although half of what I do is guessing, and the other half is memory of when my family had a garden when I was growing up.

I sometimes wish I had a more physical job – there’s just something to be said about the satisfaction that comes with sore muscles after a day of actually physically WORKING!

The 12-miler was more like a 2-miler. It’s probably a good thing I was running with my girls, or I may have tried to walk it out & actually injured myself.
