Vacation!

Today, I didn’t get out of bed until 8:30! Which honestly, means I suck at sleeping in. I thought about staying in bed longer, but I could smell the coffee (the architect makes awesome coffee) and I couldn’t convince anyone to bring me a cup in bed.

I lazed around a bit, and then went for a run. It was my first hilly run since July – and it sucked/was awesome. I only ran 2 1/2 miles, but I did a big hill (250 feet of elevation gain in 1/10 of a mile) – and I did it twice. My legs were jelly by the time I got home. Obviously I need to be doing that a LOT more often. In July, that was part of my warm-up.

I am trying to a) update my WordPress and b) work on a super-secret project for the architect. Those two computer-heavy tasks did not go well together.  Hopefully now that my blog is indiscernably fancier, I can work on the architect’s project.

I also finished getting the garden ready for winter today AND raked all of our leaves. Of course, the wind is picking up, so I’m guessing that soon you won’t be able to tell that I raked at all.

While raking, I pondered three things.

1) How long could I keep my leaf fire going before the fire department showed up and how big a fine would that really be? (And could I convince the firemen that some gosh-darn kids set the fire in my neatly raked leaf piles? And would the firemen be cute?)

2) Why didn’t we get even one walnut this year, even though we have three walnut trees?

3) How is it possible for a tree to smell so much like gin, but yet grow walnuts? And should I have a martini when I finish raking?

In other news: Just under 5 days until the election – DON’T FORGET TO VOTE! (Even if you don’t vote with me, VOTE!)
