A Case of the Mondays
Guess where I am right now? I am at work! And I do not like it. Unfortuantely a strange deadline, for which I am only marginally responsible for meeting, happens to be today. And, because I am not confident in the ability of the person mostly reponsible for meeting it, I am here to badger her until it is ready.
However, she will not accept my aid, even though this deadline that we are working on is something that will benefit both of us (or, at least, our departments) AND the small issues that are causing the trouble are something that are specifically part of my job description and not hers.
I am a little annoyed that she won’t just accept my help so we can get it done. I am also annoyed that I got out of bed early on a Monday morning to come to work and not finish the project that I came to finish. ARGH!
Anyways, I will probably work Monday – Thursday this week, and go back to my Tuesday – Friday schedule next week. For those of you keeping score at home, that means I get a 4-day weekend, which should make up for my horrendous 2-day weekend. (I can feel the sympathy pouring off of each and every one of you. Thank you for your kind thoughts.)
In other news, guess where I parked my car last night? In my driveway. That’s right, bitches. The driveway is now (mostly) done. All it needs is a little maintenance sand between the pavers for the next few days, and then some fluffy green grass, and it will be a thing of beauty. The cleanup? That might take years. We have form boards, and pieces of concrete, and some gravel, and a dirt pile, and many (large) pieces of broken sidewalk and a lot of rocks just lying about, making us look trashy. Hopefully we can get that taken care of very, very soon.
We didn’t make it to the pirate festival this weekend, even though it is walking distance (we did, however, hear the cannon battles on Saturday). We were going to go on Sunday afternoon, since we spent Saturday finishing our driveway work, but just as we were getting ready to go, it started pouring – and we were not about to spend $15/person to get wet & look at soggy pirates. So – next year for sure.
Tomorrow night is book club (which I am hosting this month), so I spent a great deal of time yesterday cleaning my house. Something I didn’t do yet in preparation? Get the book. I need to pick it up tonight on my way home from work. I should be able to get most of it read in time.
Did everyone else have a good weekend?
