PORN!!!

Now that I’m getting my routine back, I think that I can get back to your regularly scheduled shoe porn!

So – it’s that time of the year again – time to talk about Fall trends.

Oxfords are big again this year – but with more cutouts, which is lame. I love the women’s oxford heel, along with other trends from last year that were supposedly “manly” (the tweed), but I hate, hate, hate this:

Nine West Oxford Cutout

However, other big trends this fall include a more vintage look and Mary Janes – both of which trends I definitely approve of. Some of my favorites from Piper Lime:

I love the detail inside the shoe and on the inside of the heel. They’re so classic & elegant.

Another good one:

Again, I like the color contrasts, and the T-strap on this one is very pretty.

However, the best are from my personal favorite “just out of reach” designer Bettye Muller:

The heel is so pretty – a nice, wide heel that would add a lot of stability. I’m also a huge fan of Mary Janes, so these, along with the detailed leather work on the toe, are the perfect shoe. Except, of course, that I am still on a shoe moratorium, and these are $400, which even in non-moratorium times are beyond my shoe budget.

Does anyone have any burning shoe questions? Recommendations? Good shoe bargain experiences? Size 6 shoes that you are dying to give away? Let me know!

  1. I TOTALLY agree with you on the Nine West oxfords. I think they look great on other people but I tried on a pair last year and could NOT get into them. They were so uncomfortable, too that I was literally in pain from 2 laps around Macy’s shoe department.

Now I want to shop for shoes!! :o)

  2. I abhor the high heeled oxford trend. I don’t know why, but it rubs me the wrong way!! (as opposed to Johnny Gill, who rubs me the right way)

Did anyone catch that joke? Crickets? Okay, anyway….

Sorry I didn’t make it to your shindig, where I would have helped consume the guac and you’d be free of leftovers. I wasn’t expecting to be in town, and then when I was, my bro and sister-in-law asked me to babysit, and I often have to turn them down due to the never-in-town-ness that is my life… so anyhoo, I said yes and had a date with the cutest 4 year old on earth.

    In other news…

Your domestic abilities astound me. I could use some lessons, pronto.
Canning? Gardening? Baking all weekend? I need to take a page from your book.

Finally, I can’t wait to bikram-it-up with you and Miss A, and will absolutely do so in 2 weekends!!

Oh – and the blackberry bushes on my running route line the 12 mile loop at Sauvie Island. Don’t go pick them all. Or if you do, may I request that you bring some cobbler to my crib?

    • ha! funny jokes about singers! 🙂

Although I would never choose a 4-year-old over wine & guac, I understand that often people do. I don’t understand it, but I certainly can’t argue with it!

I will make sure you invite you to my upcoming cheese-making & tamale-making parties, and then you can absorb some of my disgusting domesticity.

I am also excited to see you at bikram in a couple of weeks. The Portland bloggers are totally going to take over that class.

I suspected Sauvie Island was your locale! I will not pick all the berries – and anytime you want, I will make you a cobbler.

  3. 5 years ago I would have said ICK to all of those.
    now? I adore.

    what does THAT say?

    • I think it says you’ve had positive personal growth. My love of shoes has really developed in the last 5 years, too – mostly due to the influence of my dear friend Margaret.

  4. I heart the t-strap shoe in the middle and actually have some similar shoes (minus the t-strap). They have a sassy, 40’s vibe to them. I too am on a shoe moratorium and it saddens me greatly!

“Portland Bloggers Overtake Local Bikram Class” tonight on the 11 o’clock news… Can’t wait. I think it’s awesome that you guys met through blogging and get to hang. And when I say, “I think it’s awesome” what I mean is: “I’m insanely jealous.” 😉

    • you should come hang out with us. We wouldn’t even have to do Bikram, although we certainly could. A little yoga, a little run (see how I snuck that in there – you know you want to), and a little martini.

      🙂

  5. Shoes huh? I may be the only female on the planet not really into shoes! I get all excited about fall running shoes and crocs and flip flops and stuff but somehow, really real shoes, doesn’t excite me! Am i weird???

    • Not liking shoes doesn’t make you weird – although I can’t speak to your overall lack of weird.

We’ve all got different things. 🙂

  6. Oh i’m weird, just in other ways i guess!! I will do a blog post on my weirdness someday! Maybe, in list form!

But, the shoes you showed here are kinda nice! Just not for me!! Maybe someday i will try 6 inch stilettos?? Yeah right, i would trip the minute i stood up!!!

    • I have never actually fallen while wearing heels, but have fallen while wearing sneakers, flip-flops, bare feet, etc. I think I’m more careful in heels or something. I would start with 3″ stilettos, though – safer! 🙂
