A very momentus occasion

This is my 1,000th post. That is a lot of over-sharing, people! A lot.

In honor of my 4.5 years of over-sharing, I am holding a giveaway.

The prize (in honor of my not being able to run + my new gardening focus): A gardener’s gift basket.

Included in the basket:

  • A basket (I know, right?)
  • Flower seeds
  • Veggie seeds (all seeds to be selected based on where you live)
  • Gardening gloves
  • A couple of jars of jam
  • And an exciting surprise! (This is because I haven’t picked everything up yet – waiting on figuring out where the winner lives to make sure I get region-appropriate stuff for him/her AND determine if the person is a balcony container-gardener or an urban small farmer [like me]).
  • The approximate value of the gift basket is about $50.

To enter, please leave a comment and tell me about your garden dreams. You can get additional entries by retweeting this contest information and/or linking to this post on your blog (just let me know if you do either of those).

The contest closes at midnight on Sunday (Pacific Time) 7/11/10, and the winner will be announced on Monday (7/12).  Once I work out the details with the winner, the prize package will be mailed out on either 7/16 or 7/17.

Good luck!

  1. Our apartment has a northeast facing balcony, so our gardening options are limited. We’ve already paid our sad farewells to our basil and tomato plants – we were too optimistic 🙁

We’re trying to discover what the heck we can grow, besides desert plants and hearty herbs!

  2. Congrats on your 1,000th post! I don’t actually want to be entered as my gardening options are maxed out in the broiling heatwave drenched container garden of herbs on my balcony. I do have a garden vs kitty question for you, though… One weekend I purchased and planted catnip, rosemary, mint, cat grass, parsley, tarragon, and cilantro. My cat ate the cilantro down to nothing in 3 minutes flat. What gives? Am I depriving him of essential Mexican kitty nutrients?

  3. Oooh 1000th post awesome!

Well…after printing your calendar bible I have many gardening dreams, ranging from some yummy spicy mustard greens, to beautiful tomatos next summer…one of my favorite things about the “bible” was December–collect seeds, drink tea, dream about next year’s crop.

I can’t wait to be gardening buddies and to learn from all your infinite wisdom. I’m actually withdrawing my comment from consideration for the giveaway b/c I think I’m going to be lucky enough to have you help me pick some of this stuff out!!!!!! Yay gardens.

  4. Congratulations on 1000 posts Amy!

I don’t know if it counts having both Alisa and I enter. However, I certainly have new gardening dreams that come along with the new home. In particular, I can’t wait for having my own herb garden. Also home-grown tomatoes. I also agree with Alisa though that your “bible” is going to come in handy this year!

  5. The garden of my dreams offers crops of pomme frites, tacos and vodka cranberry. Yeah, I don’t have much of a green thumb….

  6. Aww I wish I had a place to garden so I could win, but alas my balcony and Miami aren’t very conducive.

    wow 1000 posts…seriously that’s a lot of information!

  7. no need to enter me I just wanted to say how glad I am youve overshared 🙂 for 4.5 years.

My dream is to one day finish clearing out the back of our land and have a pumpkin patch for the kids to come and get their own pumpkins for Halloween..since it’s my favorite holiday and there is no where around our town to go to a pumpkin patch 🙂
