Training Goals, 10/5 – 10/11
But first, as always, last week’s recap.
Training Goals: 9/28 – 10/4
Monday: bike to work – Success!
Tuesday: 5 mile run – EASY – FAIL!
Wednesday: bike to work – FAIL!
Thursday: travel day – Success (oh yeah, I’m fancy making THIS one, right?)
Friday: 3 mile run – EASY – Success!
Saturday: panic. go to bed early-ish. panic. – 2/3 success. I got both of the panics, but could not sleep & did not go to bed early.
Sunday: race day. holy crap. – SUCCESS! I started & finished a marathon. 5:06:18. It wasn’t my ‘goal time,’ but since my #1 goal was to cross the finish line, hopefully not in complete agony, I did achieve that. I had been feeling poorly the previous couple of days, and this was the hardest thing I’ve done. I knew by mile 4 that I wasn’t going to hit the 4:30 mark – I was already hurting. Today, I am having trouble standing up & sitting down (the motion between the two states – not actually doing either of them). I was pretty much in agony when I finished. My pace group started out too fast (got to mile two in under 20 minutes, we were supposed to be at a 10:18 pace), and it was pretty much all downhill from there.
BUT – I finished. I am a marathoner, and I’m not dead. I can pretty much tell you that I won’t be signing up for another one any time soon (I at least need to be able to walk pain-free again before I can contemplate doing anything like that to my poor body again).
SO – full race report coming soon (tomorrow, probably, once I’m home again).
Training Goals: 10/5 – 10/11
Monday: rest, travel day
Tuesday: rest, walk to the library to exchange a couple of books.
Wednesday: back to work – IF, and this is a very big IF, I am feeling up to it, maybe bike to work. I’m not making any promises, though.
Thursday: perhaps if I don’t bike on Wednesday, I can make it Thursday.
Friday: walk with the architect.
Saturday: easy bike or swim.
Sunday: maybe a 2-3 mile walk/run? Maybe.
This week is all about listening to my body. I feel like crap all over. My head is congested (can’t wait to get on that plane with head congestion), I have a sore throat, my legs feel like I’ve been severely beaten (or run a marathon), and I can’t tell if the other various body aches are cold-related or running-related.
So – I am taking it easy. I think I may deserve a little break. 🙂
