PORN!!!

But first, a complaint. I ran last night at the gym – and it was another SUCKTASTIC run! What the hell is going on? I stretched. I warmed up. I did my stupid one-legged squats.

I started running at my warm-up pace of 11:32 – I intended to run a mile at 11:32 & then speed up to under 10:30 for 2-3 miles, and then cool down at 11:32 again.

Not so much. After about 8 minutes of running, my calves & ankles were so tight that I was starting to limp-run, which is no good at all. So I slowed down to a walk. I did a few more run/walk intervals, and finished up at 2.2 miles in 30 minutes. That is the suck! I’m hoping that tonight’s elliptical & tomorrow’s bike/weights will help work out my stupid legs’ stupid issues.

Between that & my burning of the dinner last night, it was not the best night ever. (Although dinner was good, I just burned the glaze that was to be poured over the fish & couscous. I made it better with rum. Not on the fish, but in my tummy.)

So – now that I’ve ranted (and will once again not have a 10-mile week, because I am a PANSY), here are the shoes.

I received a request last week for non-heeled porn, and because I aim to please (so that you all will keep coming back), here are a couple of pairs of cute, fashionable flats.

The above Clarks are cute & would work at work. I’m such a high-heel girl anymore that I have trouble envisioning myself wearing these. I do have a couple of pairs of flats (a pair of Vans with little butterfly skulls on them & a some Mizuno red flats) that I wear around home or to the market, but for going out or to work, I generally do heels.

[Aside: I have two pairs of shoes at work, because sometimes I have to walk several blocks to the bus, and it’s hard to walk swiftly & surely in heels, so when I get to work, I take off my sneakers & put on my heels & hum “It’s a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood” as I hang up my jacket.]

Moving on (I am such a rambler today). The next pair are cute enough that I can actually envision myself wearing them.

I think these are awesome – and totally appropriate for going out! They also come in black with a suede toe – and those are super cute, too. I just have a week spot for purple lately. I really want a pair of purple shoes, although again, not sure where I’d wear them.

And because I can’t quite leave with only flats (and because I think that wedges are almost as good as flats in terms of stability), I leave you with these:

I just think that they’re cute.

Any other shoe porn requests? (And in case you didn’t know, I do link all the shoes back to the places I found them, so they can be your own.) Did you like the flats? Do you wish I’d do more men’s shoes? Let me know!

(And don’t forget to enter the holiday gift basket contest – you have until midnight Pacific time on Thursday night/Friday morning.)

  1. Nice shoes today!! I think you posted them just for me??? NO?

I l like the purple ones!!!

Sorry about your sucktastic run!!! I am still very impressed with your training schedule and all that!!!

  2. First, I love the wedges, but alas they are too tall….
And Second… Admittedly, I am a new reader and don’t know the whole back story on your leg issues, so if I am way wrong, please to ignore. But, it sounds like you are pushing your body too hard, and you should maybe give yourself more recovery time? Maybe not expect to go from 0 to 60 quite so quickly? I don’t know, but it seems like your legs are trying to tell you something…

    • I do not understand this “too tall” thing you say 🙂 If I, the clumsiest girl in the world, can walk in tall shoes, you can too! (unless they are too tall because you are very tall, and you don’t want to be taller…)

As for the knee thing, I clear my training plan weekly with my PT, so I don’t feel that I’m pushing too hard. However, I do need to not berate myself for anything besides not trying, I think. 🙂

  3. I really like the wedges! I am wearing flats at work today – as I do a lot or I tower over everyone on my team.

    • The wedges are pretty damn cute. I love wedges for their stability – almost like wearing flats, except that sometimes I can be spotted in a crowd when I add an extra 3 inches to my height!

  4. Yay, cute flats! I love heels but arthritis in my feet means no heels for me (or no walking for several days following. It’s so nice that my body acts 80 even though I’m only 29), so I’m always on the lookout for cute flats 🙂

  5. I totally had to have purple shoes too – so I bought some! And then I had to buy a purple shirt. It was a vicious cycle. 🙂 But I love them!

    • That is the best vicious cycle I’ve heard! I have a few purple shirts (purple is in my top 3 of favorite colors), but am afraid that it would be hard to match shirts/shoes.

  6. some days I can’t have a good run to save my life, other days it just happens.

thanks for the low heels, I’m a tall gal and wear a lot of those!

  7. I hate flats BUT alas they do make my knee happier and right now I’m aiming to please the knee. I’m sorry about your run last night. My run this morning was pretty bad too! I only went 3.5 of 5 and was a lot slower than I wanted to be running. I was aiming for 10:45 but ended up at 12:00 with walking breaks. Damn us and our legs.

I like those purple ones…too bad I’m in a no buying for Alisa stage right now. I do need to find this place that Sarah mentions that will pay me for my old clothes.

p.s. I LOOOOOOOOOOVE the wedges! I would wear those in a heartbeat. Screw the knee!

  8. I actually like the first flats….. but I never wear flats!

Which brings me to my next point… I will need to find fancy-poo wedges for my wedding. The wedded bliss happens at a farm which isn’t exactly heel friendly, and my friend, we know this shorty needs her heels.
I would love to find fancy-poo wedges in green, my favorite color, but really, would be open to anything appropriately fancy, and not too ‘heavy’ looking.

    • I was a bridesmaid at an outdoor wedding, and had FANTASTICALLY beautiful red wedges (I’d brought my red stilettos just in case, but the ground was too soft).

I will keep my eyes peeled for appropriately wonderful wedding wedges.

  9. PS: sorry about the shitty run. Some runs are just like that! No explanation can be found – I’ve tried!

  10. I ADORE the purple flats! I never used to wear flats until this year. I’m still a heels girl though!

Sorry about your run. I almost typed “runs”, which sounds like I’m consoling you about a bad case of diarrhea!

    x

    • 🙂 thanks for consoling me about the runs!

I still never wear flats to work or out, but I concede that they may be necessary at times – and maybe even cute!

  11. i must say, the sub-10 mile week is wimptastic. I’m staring down a 17 mile long run on saturday.

Take advil about 30 mins before the run. your knees/ankles will hurt no more. Also get the PT to check your form. Landing on your heels will also contribute to the pain. I spend too much time managing pain.

Good porn! and 2 pairs of shoes a day is weak. Kelley makes fun of me bringing more shoes than her when we travel, but every day is a new chance to show off great shoes! why let it go to waste.

    • You’re mean today! I’m totally allowed to criticize my own slacker-ness, but when someone else starts criticizing me, then I get to kick them in the shins & run away!

I’m still knee-habbing! Next week, I will be hitting a 10-mile week, I’m pretty sure.

Also – I can’t take advil 30 minutes before my run (and I enjoy how you are taking the place of my doctor here) because of the pain meds I’m already on for my knee. My form is the biggest problem with my running, which is why I’m having such low-mileage weeks – I need to get my stability up to par before piling on the miles. My knee wobbles when I land, which is just no good at all.

When I travel, I usually bring a pair of shoes for each day that I’ll be gone, plus my running shoes and generally a pair of flip-flops. You never know!

I am very much looking forward to the day when I have my mileage back up (I’m hoping for 6 miles this weekend).

  12. THE WEDGES!!!!! ~~drool~~pant~~drool~~

    Can’t speak. In looovvveeee!
