The worst part about voting in Oregon is that it’s all mail ballots – no polling places (which is also the best thing about voting in Oregon).  However, I really miss going to the polls, waiting in line, and getting my “I Voted” sticker.

So – vote! (And if you can get an extra sticker, I’d appreciate it. I’ll send you a jar of apple butter or something.)

Wait…I don’t get it. No polling place? No standing in long lines with sweaty strangers for hours on end?

You get a ballot in the mail. Fill it out. Mail it back? It’s that easy? But how do you know they received it, that it’s not lost in the mail? Do they send you a confirmation?

It is that easy – although for people who are paranoid that their ballot might be lost in the mail, they do have several official ballot drop-off points (also useful for the last minute voters).

No confirmation – I just trust that it made it. Although now, I’m starting to feel a bit paranoid.

Wait, you used to get an I Voted sticker?! I didn’t get one of those! I want one! Waaaah!

I guess I’d be a little leery of the send-in ballot too, because of what Spring mentioned. How do you know it didn’t get lost in the mail?

When I voted in Cali or South Dakota, I always got a sticker! I can’t believe you don’t have one. 🙁

The mail-in is convenient and for people who are paranoid that their ballot might be lost in the mail, they do have several official ballot drop-off points (also useful for the last minute voters).

I HATE not going to the polling place. I miss the lines and the excitment of hanging chads =). I want my I VOTED sticker. If I got one of those, I may feel a little better about the mail in thing.

I feel like my ballot goes into the abyss of the postal service and ends up in a pile that gets shredded. With the polling place you watched your ballot go in the ballot box…who know if the ballot boxes were burned by angry voters…but still there was a sense of security.

I didn’t even mind the stamper that I used the last couple of times in LA – I just miss my sticker. 🙁

This is the first time I’ve mailed my ballot in Oregon – the last couple of times, I’ve dropped them off at the official brown boxes.

I asked for extra stickers for all you “mail-in” voters, but I was rejected. Sorry! They said they could only give me one. I will wear the one I got in spirit for all of you.

I had to go twice today. I tried to go before work, and there were about 200 people in line at 7:10am. So I made it back just under the wire after work. No lines at all. No stickers, either.

Your kidding me??? I worked the polls yesterday and we didn’t have I voted stickers!!! WTF??? Now i am a little upset!!! I wonder, if there is a place to call or ask about I voted stickers??? Seriously!!!

I’m on it!! If i can get i will send to you my friend!!!

It was great being able to work the polls and be there for all the hoopla!!! And when i say hoopla i mean, helping elderly voters to actually vote and helping first time voters to actually vote as well!!!

The kids that came with their parents were really into it and wanted to go into the booth with their parents to see how to do it!!! I was #49 to vote!!!

    Today is just the beginning!!!

    Ok, i will stop now!!!
