Book Review: Mockingjay

Mockingjay (Hunger Games, #3)Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book. I’d been WAITING for it for ages (hold list at the library – I really am trying to cut down on my book buying), and was so pleased that I had it to read while recovering from surgery.

My only problem was that it’d been so long since I’d read the last two, that I’d kind of forgotten how the last one had ended, and spent the first few chapters trying to piece it together.

The book didn’t end quite the way I thought it should (I’m not telling either way – no spoilers here!), but I think it may have ended the only way it could.

Once again, the writing was good, the story compelling, and I finished a happy reader.

  1. Thanks for not including any spoilers! I haven’t read any of the Hunger Games trilogy, but I’ve put it on my list to read 🙂

  2. I loved this trilogy! The story always felt so real, like I was there living in the action. I also agree that it ended the only way it could, but totally not how I expected it to.

  3. Second the thanks for no spoilers 🙂 I actually have this one from the library, but I’m waiting on the second!! Apparently my town was slow on the uptake and EVERYONE (myself included) only wanted to read the trilogy when the hype of the third hit.

My impression of the first: I want to reread The Giver and every other dystopian novel written for MY generation.

    • So funny – I was looking on Good Reads today to see when I’d read the 1st two books, and you’d said the exact same thing about Hunger Games then! I haven’t read The Giver, but have now added it to my library queue based on your dual recommendations. 🙂
