Sign of the Apocalypse #3,256

It rained today. Heavy, heavy rain. And once, I even heard thunder.

“Big deal,” you might be saying to yourself. But, if you did say that, I would like to remind you that you have forgotten one key, important fact.

I live in Los Angeles.

It does not rain here. We were a little freaked out by the rain in the beginning of April. This just doesn’t happen.

Yesterday morning, I woke up and the architect told me that it had rained overnight (Saturday night). I scoffed. “You’re pulling my leg!” I said to him. He insisted. I told him he must have dreamed it.

Then, to prove him wrong, I accessed the internet, sure that if we had gotten rain, someone, somewhere would be talking about it. Because it’s May!

Before I could even find any information corroborating his story, I saw the Weather Channel. With the thunderstorm and flash flood watches & warnings for Southern California.

This changed our whole plan for the day. The rain, it was supposed to come by 10 AM! We cancelled our hiking & biking plans, and went to breakfast close by, so we wouldn’t get stuck driving back in a rain storm.

The rain, it did not come. It was stalled over Santa Barbara.

Finally, at about 10 PM, it did arrive. The cats were both fascinated and a little disturbed. Pretty much the same reaction I had.

It was still raining this morning. I had to use my umbrella! I got pretty wet. It rained hard. Like South Dakota in August hard. At one point, it sounded like it was hailing (it wasn’t).

Everywhere I’ve gone today, and everyone I’ve talked to has said the same thing. “I can’t believe it’s raining. It’s May!

So, obviously, the end is near. Prepare yourselves however you see fit.
