This week we’re doing a sneak peek at spring styles, and then next week we’ll be back to wedding shoe porn, with special guest porn from skinnyrunner – who had truly fantastic wedding shoes. STAY TUNED!

But first – some spring shoes, because even though it’s been nicer here lately (temps in the 30s & 40s), I am ready for spring. It looks like spring sandals are going to be a bit….crazy…what with all the stuff going on on the front.

And exotic materials are still in.

And neutrals.

These are all a bit busy for me.

My favorite spring shoe is the wedge sandal. Once, many years ago, I had the most perfect pair of wedge sandals. I’d bought them in San Francisco while there on a business trip. They were wonderful. I wore them on every first (and many 2nd) date I went on in 2002. Including my first date with the architect.

I wore them until the tan straps came out of the cork wedge heels. While I was walking, of course – because otherwise it wouldn’t be funny.

I still didn’t throw them away, though. They were so wonderful. Eventually the architect got rid of them for me when I wasn’t at home – and ever since, I’ve been on a quest to find a new wonderful pair of wedge heels.

I didn’t realize how serious this quest was until I was cleaning out my closet last night and found six pairs of wedge heeled sandals. Six. Of those six? Two that I actually wear (and one of those pairs that I wear, I probably shouldn’t, or there will be a repeat of the earlier falling down incident).

But – if I ever find a pair that are both pretty & comfy, I will buy a few pairs, I think. The first date shoes & my current favorites were both under $20 – and they lasted longer than any pair of shoes that gets worn 5 days a week should.

But someday, someday, I will find another pair!
